Permission scope: EVERYONE

An article for the gym’s members, in the app and on the member web portal. Tell Alphie what it should be about – or hand him something you have already written – and a few minutes later there is a draft article in Blogs, News and Articles, with a photograph across the top, ready to read and publish.

Two ways in: Give Alphie an idea and he writes the article from scratch. Give him your own words and he works them up instead: your voice, your facts and your running order, tidied and given headings. He asks which you meant if the wording leaves it open, because getting that wrong would rewrite your writing under your name.

The photograph is generated for this article, not chosen from a library. The same picture runs across the top and appears on the news list, so the two agree, and it is replaced in the editor like any other.

Example questions and prompts

  • Write something for my members about our new kettlebell class.
  • Put an article on the app about why we’ve moved the Saturday session.
  • I want to announce the new coach on the news feed.
  • I’ve written a piece – can you tidy it up and put it on the news?
  • Write us something about our refurbishment.
  • Can you do a post about the charity day?
  • Make it three sections: what’s changing, why, and what to do.
  • Is that article ready yet?

How the conversation goes

  • Alphie asks in one question what to call it and what he should say.
  • He shows you the title, the shape and the length, and waits.
  • Press the button and Alphie writes in the background; you carry on.
  • An alert arrives in GymOS with a link straight to the draft.

Worth knowing

  • Alphie expands your words; he does not invent facts. Ht writes a proper article and adds no start date, no price and no booking instruction you did not give it.
  • That extends to things your words merely imply. “Small groups” does not become “places are limited”, and “tell Dan and we’ll look at it again” does not become a promise to keep a list. Both are plausible, neither was said.
  • A short brief gets a short article. Give Alphie one line and you get an introduction and two sections rather than three padded ones – he stops when it runs out of things you actually told him, which is the honest behaviour and reads far better than filler.
  • It is saved as a draft, dated today, and ready to publish as it stands. Members-only is off and there is no expiry date; those are yours to set in the editor if you want them. Nothing appears in front of a member until somebody presses publish.
  • The byline is whoever asked for it. Alphie will not attribute an article to a colleague, even if you ask.
  • The title and the author are printed by the page, so the article itself starts with the writing. Nothing is repeated and nothing is signed.
  • The photograph looks like a real photograph of a real gym, and it is neither.
  • Read the copy. It is a first draft. It reads well, it has not been checked, and the whole membership will see it.
  • Alphie will not write about anything medical. No injuries, no rehabilitation, no diet or supplements – and it will not add a disclaimer about them either, because an article that has given no advice does not need to warn anybody about it. Nor will it write a statistic, a study or a quotation it was not given.
