Who is in the room, and what should I know?
Permission scope: EVERYONE
Three questions a coach asks about the session in front of them. Who was booked and who actually turned up; who is carrying an injury, and what it is; and whose paperwork is not in – the par-Q, the terms and conditions, the consent.
The injury list ties back to the class roster on purpose, so “does anyone in my 3pm have anything I should know about?” is a question with an answer rather than a note somebody has to remember. Ask for a class register and Alphie tells you, on the spot, whether anybody on it has something recorded – so the second question is one you are prompted to ask, rather than one you have to think of.
For a class, that covers everybody in the room. Whoever their mentor is, and whether or not they hold a membership – a drop-in, a trial, a guest or somebody working through a credit pack is stood in the same room as everyone else. It is only the gym-wide version of the question that narrows: there a team member sees the members they mentor, and a manager sees every member with an active membership and an injury on file.
Example questions and prompts
- Who was on Tuesday’s 6am?
- Who didn’t turn up to the 7pm?
- Nobody turned up to that class – was anyone even booked on?
- Does anyone in my 3pm have anything I should know about?
- Which of my members have an injury recorded?
- Whose par-Q is still outstanding?
- Who hasn’t signed our terms and conditions?
- Do we have everyone’s paperwork in?
Worth knowing
- An injury record is a note somebody typed, with a date and a body area. It is not a medical assessment and Alphie does not treat it as one.
