Credit principles

Credits are allocated to members as part of credit packs. They are the currency that members use to book as part of their membership session allocation.

Important concept: Credit packs (and the credits within them) have a defined validity, which determines the sessions that can be booked with them. This is a key tenet of the GymOS system. Whereas many systems allow a member to book a given number of any type of session, the GymOS approach allows gym operators to additionally control the type and location of session that the member may book.

Please take a few moments to review and digest the fundamental principles of a GymOS credit pack and credit, as summarised below.

  • A credit pack may contain one or more credits.
  • A credit pack may be allocated as part of a membership deliverable or on an ad hoc basis.
  • Credits are typically valid for a fixed period of time. Sessions with a start time that overlaps the period of validity are eligible for booking with the credit (assuming all other aspects are also valid).

For clarity, the validity period refers to the session start date, not the current calendar date. As such, members may book sessions before their membership has technically commenced.
  • Credits may be, and typically are, restricted to be valid only for a subset of session types.
  • Credits may be restricted by venue. If this is not required, select the default “any venue” setting.
  • Important consideration: Credits may be issued at any point during the calendar month. Use the “expires at the end of the month” option with extreme caution, as this may prematurely reduce the validity period of the credit.
  • Grace credits are functionally identical to regular credits, but allow members to book future blocks of sessions. Learn more…
  • If enabled, non-private credit packs may be purchased by the store in the FitnessHub Member Portal.
  • Credit packs may be assigned a “cost with membership” price, offering a preferential rate to members with an active membership.
  • Credit packs may be tailored individually and assigned ad hoc to members.
  • Multiples of credit packs may be assigned as part of a membership, often reducing the number of credit packs that need to be defined. E.g. a standard “1 session a week” membership could issue 1x four credits every 28 days, whereas a premium “3 sessions a week” membership could issue 3x four credits every 28 days.
